WHY HAS
THIS DONATION PROGRAM BEEN ESTABLISHED?
Turner Designs is committed to improving the environment by providing
reliable instruments to advance the aquatic sciences. Through this
program we hope to provide instruments for researchers doing innovative
research to improve all of our lives.
WHO IS QUALIFIED TO APPLY FOR
A TURNER DESIGNS INSTRUMENT DONATION?
Scientists, researchers, graduate students, and post docs in colleges,
universities, and non-profit institutions working in the field of
aquatic science.
As a instrument recipient, it is
a requirement to link your website to www.turnerdesigns.com/donations.
We will send out the instrument once the link has been established.
We require this to help publicize our program. We would appreciate
it if you would link your department web page to this page when
you apply. Linking www.turnerdesigns.com/donations
is only a requirement if you are an instrument recipient. For instructions
on linking to our website click here.
Not Qualified: Competitors, suppliers,
dealers and institutions that have previously received an instrument
donation. We cannot ship or donate to countries listed on the US
trade embargoes list.
WHAT MODELS OF FLUOROMETERS WILL
BE DONATED?
Trilogy Laboratory
Fluorometer
AquaFluor
Handheld Fluorometer
Applications are to be submitted
for specific models. Please submit an application for the instrument
that best matches your research needs. An institution can only apply
for one instrument at a time. Click here
to submit an application.
WHO RECEIVES THE DONATED INSTRUMENT?
The instrument is awarded to an institution, not to the individual
applicant, to help insure its long-term use for scientific research.
HOW ARE RECIPIENTS CHOSEN?
Complete applications will be reviewed by the Donation Committee.
After reviewing the research presented on each application form,
an instrument recipient is chosen. We review and donate twice a
year. Instrument recipients will be notified in June and December.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF WE ARE AWARDED
AN INSTRUMENT DONATION?
All applicants will be e-mailed at the end of June and December
notifying them if they have or have not been chosen as a recipient.
Instrument Recipients will be notified via e-mail and will then
be instructed on how to complete the process and receive their instrument.
IF MY APPLICATION IS NOT CHOSEN,
CAN I APPLY AGAIN?
Yes, you can apply again by completely filling out a new application
form. There is no limit to the times you can apply, but once
an instrument is awarded, you can no longer apply.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO APPLY AGAIN?
We suggest that you apply again once
you have received an e-mail from us stating that your application
has not been awarded.
DO WE HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR
THE INSTRUMENT IF WE RECEIVE THE INSTRUMENT DONATION?
If your institution is awarded an instrument, a purchase order
for $1.00 needs to be issued (Okay, so we lied, it's not exactly
"free," but a dollar is not too bad). Turner
Designs will generate an invoice against the purchase order
as we would with any purchase order. This process makes the instrument
the property of the institution rather than the property of the
person making the application.
WHAT ACCESSORIES ARE INCLUDED
WITH THE INSTRUMENT?
The AquaFluor
Handheld Fluorometer will include a solid secondary standard,
batteries and storage pouch. The Trilogy
Laboratory Fluorometer will include an adjustable solid secondary
standard, 10 -10 x 10mm methacrylate cuvettes, 5 - 12 x 35 mm screw
top glass vials, a 50 well storage box, a 12 mm round vial adapter
and a power supply. If you wish to buy additional accessories, they
can be purchased at the same time or later. A one-year warranty
on parts and labor is included with each instrument.
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO ACCEPTING AN INSTRUMENT DONATION?
The conditions for receiving
an instrument donation are as follows:
1. Complete the application form. All application
forms must be fully completed to be valid.
2. Reference the instrument (Trilogy
or AquaFluor)
in any scientific papers or posters generated with the donated instrument.
Link the paper(s) and/or poster(s) to the Turner Designs Instrument
Donation Program by following these directions.

Instrument Donation Program (www.turnerdesigns.com/donations)
and post your abstract with a brief description of your research
prior to receiving the instrument. No instrument will be sent until
this link is active. We require this to help publicize this program.
We will not be purchasing ads to tell people that this program exists,
but we do want people to know they can get an instrument through
this program. We would appreciate it if you would link your department
web page to our website when you apply. Linking is only a requirement
if you receive an instrument donation. Click
here for instructions on linking to the Turner Designs Instrument
Donation Program.
4. Agree not to use the instrument to develop chemical or biological

no longer needs it. We will, in turn, donate it to another applicant.
