| In the April edition of TD News
we are very excited to announce our newest product in a long line of Turner
Designs fluorometers. Our research and development team has designed the
first solid-state Submersible Active Fluorometer PhytoFlash. PhytoFlash
differs from our traditional fluorometers in providing complex physiological
information such as the quantum efficiency of phytoplankton. Real-time active
fluorescence data enhances the suite of parameters used in monitoring and
research studies. Active fluorescence values will provide information such
as indicator of nutrient status, natural or anthropogenic toxins in the
water column, as well as ecosystem status. These data are an important component
to large-scale water monitoring programs as well as aquatic research projects.
Please see our website for PhytoFlash
performance data, application
notes and specifications.
In this edition we are also excited to introduce Turner Designs' Application Scientist Lawrence Younan. Finally we'd like to announce our new Knowledge Database, an interactive internet based search engine that will assist you with technical and application based questions on our entire line of fluorometers.

Introducing the New
Submersible Active Fluorometer - PhytoFlash Unlike other active fluorometers, researchers
can PhytoFlash can be operated in three different
modes. The Self-Contained Mode allows users to deploy PhytoFlash for extended
periods of time in conjunction with the Turner Designs battery pack and
internal data logging capabilities. The Integration Mode enables PhytoFlash
to mate with a CTD or third-party system. Finally the Laboratory Mode
allows users to access data from response curves for additional physiological
information. |
