Turner Designs Providing Fluorometers
Specifically Configured to Detect Crude Oil for Tracking the
Gulf Oil Spill
Sunnyvale, CA; May 24, 2010: Turner Designs is providing
in situ and Laboratory Fluorometers specifically configured
to detect Crude
Oil for tracking the Gulf Oil spill. Equipment being deployed
includes the C3
Submersible Fluorometer, as specified in the USCG
SMART protocol; the Cyclops-7
Submersible Crude Oil sensor with the DataBank,
our handheld datalogger; and the Trilogy
Laboratory Fluorometer for discrete sampling on shipboard.
With our standard leadtime of 1-2 weeks, Turner Designs' fluorometers
can be deployed quickly to start providing valuable spill tracking
information.
New Low-Wavelength
Cyclops-7 Submersible Fluorometer
January 21, 2010: Turner
Designs announces a new low-wavelength Cyclops-7
Submersible Fluorometer for detection of Refined
Oils and Fuels. Recent developments in LED technology allow
for excitation wavelengths down to 260nm. These new Deep UV
LEDs enable detection of a broad range of refined oils and fuels.
Using BTEX as the standard, the C7 is able to detect as low
as 0.1ppm over a dynamic range >250ppm.
In the standard C7 package, the
Refined Oils (Fuels) version offers the same features - small
size (4.3" x 0.9" and only 5oz), analog data output,
submersible to 600m, and stainless or titanium housings. The
C7 is easily integrated into any third-party platform that supplies
power and datalogging. It can also be used with the Turner Designs
DataBank,
a handheld datalogger that supplies power to the sensor and
enables logging of up to 9,999 records for easy downloading
to a PC.
New optoelectronic technology allows
Turner Designs to introduce this new C7 as the lowest-cost solution
for detecting refined oils and fuels available today.
Turner Designs Announces Cyclops-7
Submersible Fluorometer
December 9, 2003: Turner
Designs today announced the Cyclops-7
Submersible Fluorometer. This sensor is designed for integration
into multi-parameter platforms requiring a high performance,
compact sensor at a significantly lower price than traditional
submersible fluorometers. The Cyclops-7 combination of price,
performance and size make the sensor very attractive for oceanographic
and dye tracing applications.
Although small, just 4.3 inches long by 0.9 inches diameter,
the sensor does not compromise measurement performance including
sensitivity and dynamic range. The excellent turbidity rejection
ensures superior detection limits in a wide range of environmental
conditions.
The sensor requires an external power source, and delivers a
standard 0 - 5V output voltage to an external data logger. The
Cyclops-7 fluorometers can be factory configured for a wide
range of fluorophores including chlorophyll a and rhodamine
WT, or custom versions.
