Parameters: Fluorescent Dye Tracing, Fluorescein

In April-May 2018, a group of glaciologists led by PhD student Katie Miles at Aberystwyth University used four PME Cyclops-7 Loggers in combination with fluorescein-detecting Cyclops-7F Submersible Sensors on Khumbu Glacier, Nepal. Khumbu Glacier, whose ice is sourced in the Western Cwm of Mount Everest, flows down the flanks of the mountain from around 7,000 to 4,900 metres above sea level.

The aim of the project was to determine the subsurface dra...

Turner Designs’ new C6P Submersible Sensor package enables up to six sensors in a corrosion resistant, highly durable, Delrin plastic housing able to withstand the harshest of environments and rated to a depth of 600 meters.  Modeled after the popular C3, the C6P can be configured with up to 6 optical sensors ranging from deep UV to IR.  An anti-fouling copper plate and mechanical wiper are available as options to minimize bio-fouling on and around the sensors.  Each C6P comes with a factor...

Monterey Bay is a dynamic oceanographic environment that offers scientists from around the world unlimited opportunities to study the interactions of marine organisms with their surroundings.  The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) coordinates and sponsors multi-institutional experiments in a project named CANON (Controlled, Agile, and Novel Observing Network).  The main focus of CANON is to understand how microbial communities react to continuously changing ph...

The Philadelphia Water Department conducted a dye test in the Delaware River between August 5 and August 8, 2014, as part of the validation process for a 3D hydrodynamic model using Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code.  They are updating a flow model that will help them better understand how pollutants are dispersed in the tidal Delaware.  This flow model is one of the scientific tools used in their Green City Clean Waters Plan to better protect and improve the quality of th...
