The PhytoFlash Shade Cap was designed for use in both the Self-Contained and Integrated Modes. The Shade Cap allows the free passage of water past the sensor optics while shielding the optics from unwanted light. The Shade Cap is also useful whenever the active fluorometer is being deployed in shallow waters, is in contact with the bottom or other objects, or is in a fast moving current.

The Shade Cap will help prevent seaweed, leaves, and other debris from obstructing the optics. It is easily mounted on the PhytoFlash Active fluorometer and provides good long term mechanical protection.
