Quick Indicative Ballast Water Compliance Checks

Ballast-Check™ 2 is a small, lightweight, highly durable handheld fluorometer ideal for quick indicative compliance checks of ballast water. Factory set and optimized for the ballast water D2 regulations, the Ballast-Check 2 is ready for use right out of the box; all accessories are included and no calibration is required. Precision and accuracy of the Ballast-Check 2 have been independently tested and shown to correlate well with microscopy when estimating cell counts even after UV treatment. Simple one-button measurements display estimates for both algal abundance and algal activity, while also providing ship crew or port state control with an indication of risk for exceedance of the regulation. Results are logged internally and can be downloaded as a PDF report which can not be edited. Ballast-Check 2 is ideal for quick on-the-spot indicative compliance tests of ballast water

  • When should I use my Shade Cap?
    We recommend use of the shade cap as it provides a fixed distance for sample measurement and minimizes affects from ambient light. The Shade Cap also offers protection for the optics and prevents damage from deploying, recovering, or transporting the instrument, in fast-flowing environments, and/or from bottoming out in shallow environments.
