Ballast Water Management in the Field Put to the Test
The Ballast-Check 2 Handheld Fluorometer was used last summer on a cruise funded by the German Research Foundation. The focus of the cruise was ballast water sampling techniques and protocols. The Ballast-Check 2, a quick indicative compliance monitoring tool, showed good correlation with detailed cell counts and activity estimates made by on-board scientists.
